I fell in love with the enamelling process 15 years ago. Working with enamels for the first time was transformative. The creation of colour! The vibrancy, mood, atmosphere and textures one can achieve are incredible, not just on precious metals but also on copper. Copper is one of my favourite metals to work with and has some qualities, like forming black oxides that blend beautifully with certain colours, that make it perfect for enamelling. I cut most of these pieces out by hand with a jeweller's piercing saw and I often add 24kt gold leaf to many of them.
